Men in Sheds group meet every Wednesday from 10am till 2.00 p.m. and every Friday from 12.30 pm till 3.00pm in their dedicated workshop and rest area at the Poynton Community Centre.
Projects they are working on are varied. Some are making Bird Boxes and BBQ Candle holders, some are refurbishing an old railway truck (similar to the one at the junction of Clifford Road and Chester Road), some just pop in for a cup of tea or coffee and a biscuit, some like to have a chat or catch up with newspapers (supplied) and others have been doing a bit of restoration in a wildlife garden and the rear of the Centre.
They contribute £3 per visit to cover costs (refreshments, room hire etc,) and all funds from the sale of Bird Boxes and Candle Holders go into their funds towards social events they might want to organise. Other funding to support the group has come from Cheshire Peaks and Plains Housing trust and they are currently seeking a community grant from Greggs to support the long term future of the group.
Men in Sheds helps combat loneliness, build confidence and camaraderie and all are welcome to pop in, meet the group and have a chat.
